Kolbe into a break and he is stopped near the 22. The ball is recycled and Willemse sends Le Roux away. Wiese then appears to have scored in the corner but was there a try saving tackle? The TMO will have a look.

Herschel Jantjies is on for De Klerk and Wales just manage to clear their scrum.

Wales with a lucky goal line drop-out and the Boks lead an attack. They string seven phases together before the Lukhanyo Am pass goes forward. They did not need that.

CONVERSION, SOUTH AFRICA, WILLEMSE! 22-24: What a beauty by Willemse from the corner. In the meantime Alun Wyn Jones has been sin-binned.

TRY, SOUTH AFRICA, KOLBE! 20-24: Kwagga Smith with a great run and he offloads to Louw. The ball is recycled and they come close. They go wide and after a cross-kick and a short chase Kolbe SCORES IN THE CORNER. THE CROWD ROARS!

Wales are applying the pressure now and are looking better and better.

PENALTY, WALES, BIGGAR! 15-24: It's another Wales penalty at the breakdown and De Jager is the guilty party. Biggar lines it up again after Wales slowed the game down again and he slots it DOWN THE MIDDLE!

TRY, SOUTH AFRICA, MARX! 15-18: He does it again! The line-out is secured after the touch-finder Marx drives over for a second line-out maul try. WOW! That's what he did against Wales last time they played.

The line-out is secured and they go wide after the maul is stopped. Le Roux finds Kolbe and the play comes to an end near the side-line. We have a potential head injury to Tomas Francis after he caught the knee of Steven Kitshoff. Sadly he leaves the field.

Willemse with a cross-kick now and the Boks secure a penalty at the breakdown. De Klerk finds touch. Has the momentum shifted?

CONVERSION, SOUTH AFRICA, WILLEMSE! 10-18: Willemse takes over the kicking from Jantjies, who has been replaced. It sails over!

TRY, SOUTH AFRICA, MBONAMBI! 8-18: The line-out is secured and the Boks have another penalty after the driving maul. Again De Klerk finds touch. They gain momentum with the maul and Bongi Mbonambi is OVER!

Kick-off! We are back underway in the second half. What can the Boks do?

HALF-TIME: SOUTH AFRICA 3-18 WALES. What a first 40 it was for Wales. The Boks have made lots of mistakes but all credit to Wales and Louis Rees-Zammit with his two tries. The Boks will have to have a hard talk at the break. Elton Jantjies has struggled.

YELLOW CARD, WALES, BIGGAR! 3-18: After a few resets at the scrum inside the Wales half Wales go to the blind-side but the Boks get it back. Jantjies goes wide and Biggar gets back to stop De Klerk. What a tackle on him ! The TMO has a look and Biggar is sin-binned! He failed to roll away! Great call!

TRY, WALES, REES-ZAMMIT! 3-16: It's a line-out over the top by Wales and Jantjies cannot clear. Louis Rees-Zammit kicks ahead and the bounce of the ball favours him to SCORE!

The Boks make their way into the Welsh half but then great work by the debutant Tommy Reffell, who secures a penalty at the breakdown. Wales finds touch.

The set-piece is secured and after the drive is stopped they go wide. It comes back to Jantjies who's cross-kick ends up inside the goal area where Kolbe spills it. Another water break. Really?

The referee has a long chat to the captains after a little fisty cuffs and it ends with a Springbok line-out inside the Welsh 22.

Wiese collects at the base and gains momentum before De Klerk kicks forward. The Boks somehow get it back and string the phases together.

A BIG SCRUM by the Boks secure a free-kick and they opt for another scrum now trying to milk a penalty.

Wales secure a set-piece under pressure and kick deep and high. Willemse tries to set up an attack and makes some ground. The Boks have a penalty and this time they go for the corner and Jantjies sends it out on the full behind the goal line.

Great work at the breakdown now by the Boks and they are just trying to play ketchup, as Jantjies slots the kick wide. Did he pull it? Yes! Oh dear!

PENALTY, WALES, BIGGAR! 3-11: It sails down the middle.

The Springboks secure a scrum and Damian de Allende takes it into the tackle. The ball is recycled and after six phases they come back for an offside penalty. Jantjies will have another go.

Jantjies takes his time and it hits both the uprights. He needed to slot that for his own confidence! We have a water break!

What looked like a dangerous tackle by Wales on Malherbe is not even referred to the TMO. Interesting. Wales have a scrum after a knock-on and Malherbe ensures a Springbok penalty at the scrum. Jantjies will have a shot at goal.

Great work by Eben Etzebeth to STORM DOWN a Wales kick and Wales secure the subsequent line-out. They go to the blind-side where Wiese steals it. Jantjies with another cross-kick and this one is better.

DROP-GOAL, WALES, BIGGAR! 0-8: The Boks secure the set-piece and Wiese carries well to make good ground. Jantjies then tries a cross-kick and Wales have the ball back. Not the best Jantjies kick. Biggar then tries a drop-kick and the initial decision is wide but the TMO says It's OVER!

Kolbe brilliant in the air to secure a high-kick but they come back for a Wales penalty after a late tackle by Wiese. Wales set up the line-out.

Wales are putting the Boks under pressure and they know just they want to get out of these box-kicks!

TRY, WALES, REES-ZAMMIT! 0-5: Wales steal the set-piece and go wide. Willemse cannot get there in time to cover and Rees-Zammit runs home to SCORE!! A DREAM START!

Despite a rampant Springbok start Wales make their way into the opponents half. Willemse then spills a high-kick but the Springbok are fortunate to come away with an offside penalty. They set up the line-out.

Kick-off! We are underway here in Pretoria after stirring renditions of the National Anthems and a minute of silence to remember Phil Bennett, the former Welsh fly-half, who passed away recently! It's the first time that the current Rugby World Cup champions are playing at home in front of a capacity crowd since winning the crown.

Our referee is Nika Amashukeli from Gorgia. He will be assisted by Angus Gardner from Australia and Andrew Piardi from France. The TMO is Joy Neville from Ireland.

Leicester's openside flanker Tommy Reffell has been included in the starting line-up and will make his Welsh debut against the Springboks. George North is also back for Wales after a 12 month spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury, while Rhys Carre returns after a long absence to provide cover on the bench for the front-row.

The Springboks head coach Jacques Nienaber surprised a few pundits by including utility back Damian Willemse at full-back ahead of Willie Le Roux, who is on the bench. He also decided to include Elton Jantjies at fly-half ahead of Handre Pollard, who was released late by his club and as a result arrived late at the training camp. It is also expected that Salmaan Moerat will make his Springbok debut from the bench on Saturday.

When these teams last met in November 2021 in Cardiff the Springboks secured their first victory in Wales after a eight year drought thanks to a crucial late try by Malcolm Marx helping to secure the 23-18 scoreline.

Wales also lost by a point in their last encounter against Italy at the Principality Stadium in March.

This is the Springboks' first match since they went down in a narrow 27-26 defeat to England at Twickenham in November.
