Leaders drop points in MTN Super League
Leaders ZESCO United were held to a 1-1 draw at Atletico Lusaka on Wednesday as none of the top eight in the MTN Super League were able to register a win.
ZESCO move to 31 points from 17 games, three points ahead of defending champions Red Arrows in fifth, though the latter have a game in hand and could move to the summit with victory over Zanaco on Thursday.
ZESCO took the lead at Atletico through George Ngoma with 20 minutes left on the clock, before Abel Nyirongo, a star for Zambia at the recent TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifier, equalised with three minutes remaining.
Second-placed Kabwe Warriors were also held to a 1-1 draw by in-form Nkana FC, who are in third.
An own goal from Godfrey Binga inside five minutes had Nkana in front, but Godfrey Binga equalised for Warriors from the penalty spot midway through the first half.
Fourth-placed Power Dynamos slipped to a surprise 1-0 home loss to Nchanga Rangers, who move to ninth.
Elliott Kampukesa scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half.
Green Buffaloes were held to a third successive draw when they played to a 1-1 stalemate with Mufulira Wanderers.
Evans Musonda put Wanderers ahead in the first half, but Friday Samu equalised in the second period for Buffaloes.
Finally, FC MUZA and Green Eagles played to a goalless draw.
