Following their shocking 5-0 loss to Stellenbosch, AmaZulu will be hoping for a better result in their Round of 32 clash in the Nedbank Cup against Mighty Eagles at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Kick-off is at 19:00 CAT (SA, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

As aforementioned, Usuthu is currently licking their wounds following a 5-0 drubbing against Stellenbosch in the Betway Premiership. The KZN outfit had a horrid start to the season which saw them rooted bottom to the league standings at the time.

However, following the appointment of Arthur Zwane and Vusimuzi Vilakazi as co-coaches, there has been an improvement in the team’s performances.

They are currently placed 10th in the league standings, and the Nedbank Cup presents the team an opportunity to win silverware.

They previously reached the quarterfinals of the competitions where they succumbed to eventual champions Orlando Pirates.

As for their opposition in this clash, Mighty Eagles, the Eastern Cape outfit is in the third tier of South African football, participating in the ABC Motsepe League.

WHAT WAS SAID

The ambitious Mthatha team is excited to face AmaZulu, a South African club with a rich history as they debut in the Nedbank Cup Last 32.

“Before the draw, the players were saying they wanted to face a PSL team because they wanted to test themselves against the best in the country. They got that and they were very happy,” Mighty Eagles coach Sibusiso Mapompo said.

“I thought they would be nervous or scared but they are excited and eager to compete. That’s all you need as a coach, motivated players and tactics that are followed. All you need is the right mentality in the camp to proceed in the competition.”

“It won’t be an easy task; there is a lot of planning involved,” Mapompo added.
