Fans can look forward to thrilling cricket and entertainment across 30 group matches and are encouraged to book early

Following an unprecedented demand for tickets during the pre-sale window, where the popular Plenty for R20 ticket promotion sold out in four of the six stadiums within hours, tickets for Season 3 of Betway SA20 go on sale to the public on Thursday.

Fans can look forward to epic match-ups, as the best local and international stars gear up to entertain crowds across the country. Fans can secure their seats for front row action during the group matches at www.sa20.co.za or at the stadium ticket offices.

BIG NAMES

The action kicks off on 9 January in Gqeberha, where back-to-back defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape host a star-studded MI Cape Town which includes World Cup winner Ben Stokes, Trent Boult and Rashid Khan.

Last season’s finalists Durban’s Super Giants welcome big names Kane Williamson, Shamar Joseph and Marcus Stoinis, as they front up against Pretoria Capitals at Kingsmead on 10 January for their first home match.

The opening weekend’s sizzling double-header action will see Joburg Super Kings battle it out against MI Cape Town at the Wanderers on 11 January - a repeat of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians rivalry. While Paarl Royals open their account against the Champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Boland Park in the first afternoon match.

It promises to be another electrifying edition of South Africa’s premier T20 cricket league, which culminates with the Final at Wanderers on 8 February 2025.

Following sell outs in the pre-sale period at the four other venues, a limited number of the R20 tickets still remain for the opening matches at St George’s Park (9 January) and Kingsmead (10 January).

“The opening of ticket sales is always a major milestone for us as we gear up for a new season. We’ve been fielding ticketing enquiries from fans over the last few months and are looking forward to balmy nights and cricket under lights with the best T20 cricketers in the world joining prime local talent to showcase incredible. I really am looking forward to another unforgettable season,” League Commissioner, Graeme Smith said.

MUCH, MUCH MORE

Beyond the action on the field, Season 3 will offer fans more of what they love. From live performances, bucket hats, activities for the kids, give-aways, fan cams, delicious food and so much more; young and old will be in for an unmatched stadium vibe and experience.

The players are equally excited for the competition to start.

Explosive Durban's Super Giants' batter, Heinrich Klaasen, says it is inspiring to play in front of a full house at Kingsmead and hopes for more of the same in Season 3.

“I think Durban being full on a Wednesday was inspiring,” he said. “We haven't seen a crowd like that in Durban for years, and it's honestly nice to have a jam-packed stadium, especially for our team.”

BEST MONTH

MI Cape Town's Ryan Rickelton is hoping to recreate more outstanding memories on the field.

“SA20 is the best month of the year,” he said, ‘’something we all look forward to. The 200-run partnership I had with Rassie (Van der Dussen) at the Wanderers is one of the best feelings I have had on the field, and I cannot wait for Season 3.’’

Donovan Ferreira can't wait to play in front of Joburg Super Kings' sea of yellow.

“It brings people together,” he said of the competition. “It's filled up the cricket stadiums and it’s amazing to play in our backyard in front of exciting fans who come out to watch us game after game.”

“SA20 represents everything that South Africa stands for. It's fierce, its vibes, its fans coming out as family and most of all, incredible cricket,” Pretoria Capitals’ captain, Wayne Parnell exclaimed.

"It is my best month of the year,’ acknowledged Sunrisers Eastern Cape's rising star Tristan Stubbs. “It is so much fun. Crowds are amazing. You are at home. I get to play at St George’s where I love batting."

Paarl Royals paceman, Lungi Ngidi, expects a bigger and better Season 3. "We’ve already tasted the past two seasons, but I think Season 3 is going to be a blockbuster."
