While their position on the log might not say it, the Hollywoodbets Sharks are in “a much better space” ahead of their Vodacom United Rugby Championship match against the Emirates Lions in Durban on Saturday.

The Durban side have won just one of their eight games in the championship this season but came within a point of upsetting last season’s finalists, the DHL Stormers, before the new year and with their Springboks as an integral part of their side at the moment, and finally back at home, they feel they are ready to start moving up the log.

“We felt as a group we could have had the win in Cape Town so there are a lot of positives from that game and we now look forward to this Saturday to give a performance we are proud of,” scrumhalf Grant Williams said.

“Everyone is positive and there are definitely more positives than negatives. We are building a strong performance and I believe we are close as a group to delivering just that.”

The Sharks won’t underestimate the Lions as they know their opponents will take them on up front.

Williams believes while the results haven’t gone their way, it is not as bad as it looks.

“We just need to find that fire,” he added, “I think we are close to finding that and that’s why we are looking forward to Saturday’s game.

“It is not that we lost games by 50 or 60 points. We just need to find that fire and we will be fine. We are building as a team and become much stronger as a unit.

“It starts on Saturday with the Lions.”

Williams also added that he was looking forward to playing in Durban again after being away with the Springboks and hoped it would boost the side.

The Sharks will name their side on Friday for the clash.
