Cape Town Tigers will face Basketball Africa League (BAL) favourites FUS Rabit at 7pm CAT on Tuesday in Pretoria as they seek their first win in the inaugural Kalahari conference.

Dynamo Basketball Club of Burundi will take on Petro de Luanda (Angola) at 4pm CAT

Morocco's FUS Rabat defeated Angola's Petrol de Luanda 82-73, and Burundi's Dynamo Basketball Club beat South Africa's Cape Town City as the much-heralded Basketball Africa Kalahari conference got off to a flyer in Pretoria with sold-out crowds at the SunBet Arena.

Top artists performed during the inaugural weekend of the Kalahari conference: Dali Wonga & Musa Keys gave halftime performances in front of an excited crowd. Many other big South African artists will perform during the rest of the Kalahari event.

The BAL also held ancillary events, including a Junior NBA clinic with more than 200 young players between 14-18 years of age. To celebrate International Women’s Day, BAL held a BAL 4 Her event with 25 participants at the NBA office and a Her Time for Her To Play clinic with 200 participants in Soweto with the WNBA player Jewell Loyd.

Sunday’s action at the SunBet Arena tipped off with interactive community and fan events. Special Olympics of South Africa (SOSA) and the BAL also held a basketball clinic with 40 SOSA athletes joined by FUS Rabat players, which was followed by a unified celebrity game featuring South African music artists and entertainers, and Special Olympics players.

Meanwhile, Dynamo Basketball Club (Burundi) forfeited its game against FUS Rabat Basketball (Morocco) on Sunday, 10 March at the SunBet Arena for refusing to comply with the league’s rules governing jersey and uniform requirements, and this was announced by BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall.
