Jannik Sinner fought back to reach the China Open quarterfinals on Saturday, just as the World Anti-Doping Agency said it was appealing his steroid case from earlier this year.

The world No 1 and US Open champion defeated the 69th-ranked Russian Roman Safiullin 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 in Beijing.
