Wasteful Magesi fail to put Royal to the sword

Magesi FC were made to rue their first-half chances after drawing 0-0 with Royal AM in a Betway Premiership match played at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The result saw Dikwena Tsa Meetse climb up to the 11th spot in the league standings and they will travel to the Western Cape to take on Cape Town City on 27 October when club football resumes after the Fifa international break.

Thwihli Thwahla, on the other hand, remain undefeated this season and they are placed eighth in the standings. Royal will play host to Sekhukhune United on 26 October as they look to record their first win of the season.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse were the better side in the first-half in terms of creating good goalscoring opportunities. Xolani Ngcobo was called into action in the 12th minute and the goalkeeper denied both Delano Abrahams, and Tshepo Kakora.

Ngcobo, who was the busier of the two keepers, made a save in the 33rd minute - denying Deolin Mekoa before saving an attempt from Wonderboy Makhubu on the stroke of halftime. The score was 0-0 at the interval.

Thwihli Thwahla came back an improved side after the restart and coach John Maduka introduced promising attacking midfielder Hopewell Cele in the 68th minute as the visitors looked to break the deadlock.

Elvis Chipezeze was called into action with 10 minutes left on the clock and the Magesi keeper denied Sibusiso Magaqa. Ultimately, the first-ever competitive meeting between Magesi and Royal ended in a 0-0 draw.
