The South African team will attempt to put one foot in the next division of the Davis Cup team competition when they face Lebanon in a World Group II clash in September.

One of 12 unseeded teams in Group II, the SA side were drawn against the No 10 seeds on Thursday, and they will play an away tie in Lebanon in September.

"They (Lebanon) have some very good players so we will have to dig deep," said SA captain Christo van Rensburg.

"We are still talking about who we should play (in the national team) but I will make that decision closer to the tie.

"It will be a tough battle on clay but we will find a way to work around that obstacle (the slower surface) and try play the best team we can against Lebanon."

This tie will be the first for the young SA squad since they earned promotion from Davis Cup Group III with their 3-2 victory over Vietnam in an away tie in Tu Son last week.

Lebanon retained their spot in Group II after losing 3-1 to Japan in a promotion playoff, also last week.

If South Africa win their tie against Lebanon, they will compete in promotion playoffs for a spot in World Group I next season. If they lose, they will turn out in Group II relegation playoffs.
