The road between these two clubs has been travelled by many a great player over the years.

When FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC meet, it’s common for one, if not both, of the starting line-ups to contain a player who is facing his ex-club. That’s because several quality players have passed between these two institutions over the years. Here, we take a look at five of them.

Jules Koundé

One of the current members of the FC Barcelona squad was signed by the Catalan club directly from Sevilla FC. That is the case of Jules Koundé, the French centre-back who was at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán between 2019 and 2022.

His performances for Los Nervionenses were so impressive that FC Barcelona signed the defender in the summer of 2022 and he has become a regular starter, either at centre-back or right-back.

Clement Lenglet

Clement Lenglet is another talented French defender who has played for both clubs. He was at Sevilla FC between 2017 and 2018, before becoming a key player for Barça between 2018 and 2022. He then spent some time on loan in England and is currently playing on loan from FC Barcelona at Atlético de Madrid this LALIGA EA SPORTS season.

Ivan Rakitić

Ivan Rakitić was snapped up by Sevilla FC in 2011 following an impressive spell with Schalke in German football and he developed into one of Europe’s finest midfielders during his three years at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, winning the 2013/14 Europa League and earning a big-money move to FC Barcelona in 2014.

His first season in Catalonia was as impressive as could be, with the team winning the treble and with Rakitić scoring in the Champions League final against Juventus. He stayed in Catalonia until 2020, when he returned to Sevilla FC for another three and a half seasons, winning another Europa League title in 2022/23.

Adriano

Adriano Correia spent over a decade in Spanish football, splitting his time between Sevilla FC and FC Barcelona. The Curitiba-born footballer signed for Sevilla FC in 2005 and, after back-to-back Uefa Cup titles with the Andalusians, moved on to FC Barcelona in 2010 where he won two Champions League trophies.

Though never a regular starter for the Catalans, his versatility – he could line up either at full-back or in midfield – meant he was a key role player for many of the club’s most successful years.

Diego Maradona

The two Spanish clubs who Diego Maradona played for in his career are FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC. The Argentinian superstar’s first European club was Barça, before he joined Sevilla FC after his successful time at Napoli, playing one season with the Andalusians in 1992/93. He dazzled crowds across Spain during his time in LALIGA EA SPORTS, adding to his unparalleled legacy.
