French international rugby player Posolo Tuilagi suffered a double fracture of his left leg playing for Perpignan in their Top 14 win over Clermont, his club told AFP on Saturday.

The 20-year-old lock is expected to undergo surgery at the end of the day or on Sunday, according to Perpignan.

Tuilagi is likely to be out for four to five months after suffering a tibia-fibula fracture during Saturday's 33-3 win at home to Clermont.

The Perpignan player remained on the ground after a seemingly routine tackle by Clermont's Barnabe Massa in the 17th minute.

Tuilagi was then stretchered off the pitch, though he did raise a thumb to the crowd as he departed.

Tuilagi, born in Samoa but having lived in France since childhood, has represented Les Bleus five times in his fledgling career. He is the nephew of former England centre Manu Tuilagi.

He will now miss France's upcoming autumn internationals against Japan, New Zealand and Argentina and will be a doubt for next year's Six Nations.
