Crash brings chaotic Brazilian Grand Prix to halt
The rain-lashed and chaotic Brazilian Grand Prix was halted Sunday after a huge crash by Williams driver Franco Colapinto.
The Argentine lost control on the treacherous surface, smashing into a wall and tearing off the left side of his car.
Colapinto appeared unhurt but had to retire from the race.
The race was red-flagged while debris was cleared.
At the time of the suspension, French driver Esteban Ocon of the struggling Alpine team was leading ahead of championship leader Max Verstappen in a Red Bull after the early pacesetters, including pole-sitter and title hopeful Lando Norris had pitted.
After the delay, the race resumed under a rolling start.
