Leeds held by Burnley in promotion battle stalemate
Burnley extended their remarkable run without conceding but failed to land a blow on Championship leaders Leeds in a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor on Monday.
A seventh consecutive Championship clean sheet for Scott Parker's men keeps them within three points of Leeds and one behind second-placed Sheffield United in the fight for a place in next season's Premier League.
Leeds were the more threatening side in a clash short on chances and had the only shot on target when James Trafford palmed over Dan James' effort in the 88th minute.
Billed as a battle of the division's best attack against defence, the Burnley rearguard prevailed.
The Clarets have conceded just nine goals in 29 league games.
However, their issues at the other end of the field persist as Burnley have drawn four of their last five home games 0-0.
Leeds pushed for a late winner as Jayden Bogle's shot was blocked by Josh Cullen and from the resulting corner, James' rising half-volley was pushed over by Trafford.
But neither side could argue they did enough to justify all three points to leave the promotion race still tightly poised with only the top two guaranteed promotion.
