World Sports Betting Western Province have won the toss and have elected to bat first against Dafabat Warriors in a crucial CSA T20 Challenge encounter at World Sports Betting Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday afternoon.

The home side surprised many with their first victory in the tournament, securing an excellent seven-wicket triumph over the bulldozing Momentum Multiply Titans at Supersport Park in Centurion on Sunday. The win moved WP into fourth place on the log and back into contention for the play-off’s almost midway through the league phase.

The victory was much needed after an opening round washout against Goldrush Boland and then a disappointing three-wicket defeat at the hands of the table-topping Auto Investments North West Dragons.

The Warriors also have just one win from three starts but sit second-from-bottom with only four points after their opening round six-wicket success against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins. Defeat here would surely leave the men from Gqeberha with too much to do.

The Warriors though will take heart from the fact that they have secured back-to-back victories in the past two outings, by nine and eight wickets respectively.

Former Warriors opener, Eddie Moore found some form in the win over the Titans, scoring an unbeaten 88 to move him fourth on the leading runs list. The best the Warriors can offer at the moment is 25-year old Jean de Plessis, who has struck 88 runs with a best of 69 not out.

The trio of Mihlali Mpongwana, George Linde and Wesley Bedja have all captured four wickets apiece while the Warriors’ CJ King and Beyers Swannepoel have done the same with Siya Simetu having three scalps to his name.
