Already relegated Cape Town Spurs will play for their pride when they go up against Kaizer Chiefs at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the DStv Premiership. Kick-off is at 3pm CAT (SA, GMT+2).

For Kaizer Chiefs, the stakes are higher as they aim to finish in the top eight in the league. A loss for them could have dire consequences as the Soweto team has struggled to find consistency this season.

CURRENT FORM

Spurs are unbeaten in their last three league matches, but the points picked up were not enough to save them from the drop. The team beat Royal AM 1-0, played to a goalless draw against SuperSport United and a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows.

As for Chiefs, they also have not lost a match in their last three encounters. They drew 2-2 against TS Galaxy, 1-1 with AmaZulu, and had a goalless draw against Polokwane City.

They are currently eighth in the DStv Premiership but are level on points with AmaZulu and Polokwane City who are placed ninth and 10th respectively.

WHAT WAS SAID

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has expressed that he would like the team to finish off the season on a high-note when they take on the Urban Warriors.

The Glamour Boys must win this season's final game at all costs if they hope to place in the top eight and return to the MTN8 following another dismal campaign.

“It’s been three games now since we won a game. And that’s what our people want: They want us to score goals and win games,” said Johnson.

“We are not doing that at the moment, and hopefully in Cape Town where we have a good following, we’ll score goals and end the season on a very high note.”

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Mduduzi Shabalala, Kaizer Chiefs - The 20-year-old midfielder has become an integral part of the team’s set up and has made a name for himself. A star performance in this game and his composure in the middle of the park could get them over the line.

Keagan Buchanan, Cape Town Spurs - The experienced midfielder might be on his way out of the team according to news reports, he last featured against Sekhukhune United, however if he makes an appearance in this match he will give much needed creativity.
