AmaZulu’s winless streak in the DStv Premiership continued on Tuesday evening as the KZN outfit played to a goalless draw against Polokwane City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Following the result, Usuthu’s lack of consistency might see them in a battle they would rather not find themselves in.

The team is now flirting with danger as they are only two points off 14th place, occupied by Chippa United.

The opening minutes of the match saw both teams settling into their stride and getting into the game.

By the 15th minute mark Junior Dion had an unsuccessful shot on goal for AmaZulu and Mlondi Mbanjwa had a promising chance to score but it didn’t pan out the way he had hoped.

Veteran footballer Ndumiso Mabena, who was on target for Polokwane City in their last match, had a chance on goal as well but could not challenge goalkeeper Veli Mothwa.

By the 20th minute mark, Rise and Shine looked more comfortable on the ball than their opponents and a close call came from Bulelane Nikani's header that just went over the crossbar.

FAILING TO DELIVER FINAL BLOW

At this point, Usuthu started losing their balance and struggled to get on the ball.

With City now dominating possession, less chances on goal came for the KZN outfit.

Eventually though, a free kick was awarded to Usuthu and Abbubaker Mobara took a chance from outside of the penalty area but his effort went wide.

The second half of the match saw AmaZulu improve and have more of the possession than the first.

The team had more shots and attempts on goal and looked more relaxed on the ball.

The match continued with both teams going neck and neck to score but not being able to deliver the final blow.

In the 82nd minute, Riaan Hanamub had a lapse in concentration and gave the ball away but the shot from the opposition was easily scooped up by Mothwa.

The match ended 0-0 and the teams had to share the spoils in Durban.
