Looking for a win to maintain a spot in the top eight, Kaizer Chiefs will go up against Polokwane City in their next DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday afternoon at the FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 3:00 pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)

CURRENT FORM

Kaizer Chiefs have been winless in their last three matches in the league, but remain eighth in the standings with 35 points.

However, in order to keep their spot, they have to beat Polokwane City as they are level on points.

Following a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns, the Glamour Boys have drawn their last two games against TS Galaxy and AmaZulu respectively.

Polokwane City are placed ninth on the log after beating Cape Town Spurs 1-0. The Limpopo outfit have played goalless draws against Richards Bay and Sekhukhune United.

WHAT WAS SAID

Cavin Johnson the coach of Kaizer Chiefs has stressed how important it is that the team win their remaining fixtures to make sure they finish in the top eight.

“It’s about winning every game and the top eight is very important to the club,” Johnson said.

“It is vital that we play the next two games as cup finals.”

Rise and Shine coach Photo Mohafe has given compliments to former Kaizer Chiefs player Cole Alexander for his leadership since joining the team ahead of the match.

“He has brought an experience that is needed within the club, his leadership on the field is helping us tremendously,” said Mohafe.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Ashley du Preez, Kaizer Chiefs - The striker scored in the team’s last match against AmaZulu and the Glamour Boys are in dire need of clinical finishes in front of goal. Should he get his groove back once again, Du Preez will be a huge threat in this match.

Oswin Appollis, Polokwane City - According to the rumour mill, the attacking player has been linked with a potential move to his opponents. Having scored five goals in the league season, it might just be another chance for him to impress.
