Orlando Pirates bounced back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership in style when they beat Cape Town City 2-0 at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

The win elevated the Buccaneers to the fourth spot on the league standings and they will now travel to the Western Cape where they are scheduled to take on Stellenbosch FC in an MTN8 clash on Sunday.

City, on the other hand, slipped down to the 10th spot on the standings and they now turn their attention to their league encounter against AmaZulu FC which will be played in Durban on August 17.

The Buccaneers exerted pressure on the Citizens' defence from the first whistle and Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when the in-form Zakhele Lepasa netted with a stunning strike.

City had to surge forward in numbers as they searched for an equalising goal which saw Tshegofatso Nyama force goalkeeper Sipho Chaine into making a comfortable save in the 35th minute. The score was 1-0 to Pirates at halftime.

The Citizens struggled to create chances after the restart and last season's DStv Premiership Golden Boot winner Khanyisa Mayo was introduced by coach Eric Tinkler in the 58th minute as the visitors looked to level matters.

However, it was hosts' substitute Deon Hotto who made an impact as the Namibia international embarked on a run on the left before setting up Man of the Match Patrick Maswanganyi who netted in the 75th minute to seal Pirates' 2-0 win.
