Fasil Kenema finally got their chance to receive their League trophy at the Hawassa University Stadium after their 1-1 draw away to Hawassa Kenema, who mounted a guard of honour and a round of applause for the champions.

In front of an ecstatic 2 000 fans who were allowed to watch the game, Fasil Kenema became the seventh club in the modern era to win the title.

Hawassa's Mesfin Tafesee began with a shot on target for Hawassa in the 10th minute.

Fasil scored in the 30th minute through Yigsaw and prompted massive celebrations from their fans.

Adama Kenema played as though they had so much at stake and they created so many chances with an Ashamu cross in the 34th minute leading to a memorable Allelen bicycle kick before a save from Samake.

Samake couldn't handle a cross from the right and the rebound by Ashamu on 44 minutes. Tafese then shot wide with Samake beaten in the 46th minute.

Samake pulled off further saves from Wondemagen Hailu on 84 minutes and another from Tafese late on.

However, Hawassa equalised at the death through a penalty scored by Beyene.
