St George host Wolkite, Ethiopian Insurance tango with Bahir Dar City

St George begin their title defence when they take on Wolkite City in the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League, and their closest rivals last season, Ethiopian Insurance and Bahir Dar City face each other.

The "Horsemen" have won the last two championships and are the bookmakers' favourites to make it a hat-trick of titles.

Their opponents, Wolkite, survived relegation on the last day of the season but will be without the services of their Captain and top striker for the last two seasons, Getaneh Kebede.

The legendary Ethiopian striker has moved to Fasil Kenema and it will be interesting to see how Wolkite perform this season without Kebede 's goals and leadership.

They mostly won when Kebede scored or struggled without him in the side.

St George seem to get better even if they lose some of their stars, and this season, Amanuel Gebremichael also moved to Fasil.

Bahir Dar finished second last season, with Ethiopian Insurance coming third, so all eyes will be on these two to challenge St George along with Mekelakeya and Fasil.
