Bahir Dar beat Wolaitta to finish second, Insurance in third place

Bahir Dar City beat Wolaitta Dicha 1-0 in their final game of the BetKing Ethiopia Premier League season to finish second on the log behind champions St George.

Ethiopian Insurance, newly promoted to the Premier League, meanwhile finished third in their first season in the top flight by wrapping up their campaign with a 2-0 loss against Hadiya Hossana.

Bahir Dar's lone goal was scored by Adam Abbas on the 44th-minute mark.

The win takes Bahir Dar City's total points haul for this season to 60, an impressive finish for the Tana Waves and just three behind St George.

St George face Dire Dawa City in the final game of the season in what is essentially a victory parade, and they may yet reach 66 points with a win.

Dire Dawa City are 10th on the log and should they win against St George, they may finish higher in eighth spot.

Ethiopian Insurance, in third place, have 49 points, 11 points behind Bahir Dar which shows the depth of Bahir Dar's performance.

Semere Haftey (8th minute) and Temesgen Birhanu (85th minute) produced the two goals for Hadiya Hossana in their win over Insurance.

Hadiya Hossana finished sixth behind Fasil in fifth and Ethiopia Coffee in fourth place.

Wolaitta Dicha ended their campaign in 12th spot following their loss.

This has been a truly remarkable season and arguably one of the most competitive so far.
