St George have won the Ethiopia Premier League back-to-back over the last two seasons but have been struggling.

They have seen Ethiopia Nigd Bank, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia go toe to toe with Mekelakeya in what has become a two-horse race.

They did however bring themselves back into the conversation with a 2-0 win over hapless Wolkite City.

The win brings St George closer to the title race as they have 31 points, behind CBE who are first with 35 points and Mekelakeya second with 33 points.

St George struggled to breakdown Wolkite in the first half and both sides ended the first half goaless.

They eventually broke through in the 61st minute when Amanuel Arbo scored from the box to give St George a 1-0 lead.

Remedan Yesuf put the game beyond reach for Wolkite with a second goal for St George at the dead on 90+5 minutes.

Elsewhere in the bottom of the log, Shashemene City brought some life to proceedings there when they beat Wolkite 2-1.

It all seemed to be going well for Wolaitta Dicha when Biniam Fikre scored in the last minute of the first half.

However, Wolaitta were stung by one of their former heroes, Sintayehu Mengistu who equalized for Shashemene City in the 53rd minute.

Shashemene scrambled the three points when Ashenafi Tiruneh scored a second goal on 73 minutes.

A massive win which takes Shashemene's point haul to 12 points and moves them above Wolkite in 15th on 10 points, and Hambericho bottom in 16th on 7 points.
