Mekelakeya, only club sanctioned this week

Ethiopia Premier League title challengers, Mekelakeya are the club sanctioned this week after week 21 disciplinary decisions were revealed.

The League's discipline committee met and announced that Mekelakeya and some other players will be punished for various infractions.

Mekelakeya was sanctioned because five of their Players received yellow cards in a match against Ethiopian Insurance.

Mekelakeya lost 1-2 to Insurance in the ill-tempered match and thus missed the chance to go level on points with leaders, Ethiopia Nigd Bank on 43 points.

Mekelakeya remain second on the log with 40 points in what has been a three horse race with St George in third place on 38 points.

The players from other Clubs who were punished include Henock Hassen (Dire Dawa City), Habtamu Nigussie (Shashemene City), Yabsera Tesfaye and Habtamu Tadesse (Bahir Dar City)

The four Players will miss the next round of matches for week because they have amassed five yellow cards each.

They will in addition will pay 1500 Birrs as fines

However, Fasil Kenema's Habib Mohammed was banned for three league matches as he was shown a red card in the Fasil Kenema's 2-2 draw with Hambericho Durame.
