Chippa United continued their resurgence in the DStv Premiership as they beat Sekhukhune United 1-0 at the Chatsworth Stadium on Tuesday evening to make it four wins in a row.

The Chilli Boys got off to a slow start this season after winning just one of their opening seven matches, which culminated in the dismissal of Daine Klate as their head coach.

But Morgan Mammila has turned their fortunes around and a solitary goal from Etiosa Ighodaro in Durban took the club up to fifth in the standings, three points behind leaders SuperSport United.

The Eastern Cape outfit claimed the scalp of Kaizer Chiefs last time out to register three league wins on the spin for the first time in six years, while Kaitano Tembo's side saw a three-match unbeaten run come to an end with a 3-1 defeat to Matsatsantsa.

The visitors made a bright start though, with Pogiso Mahlangu directing a header just wide of the goal in the 12th minute before Victor Letsoalo cleared the crossbar with hia strike on 17 minutes.

However, Chippa hit the front 10 minutes later when Ighodaro steered a header past Badra Sangare to notch his third goal of the campaign.

The home team took their one-goal lead into the break, but Babina Noko slowly began to turn the screw in the second half as they looked for a way back into the contest.

Kambindu was presented with a good opportunity to level matters on 76 minutes as he rounded Lloyd Kazapua inside the box, but the ball got stuck under his feet and the danger was averted.

Just three minutes Mahlangu set up Tashreeq Morris, whose header could only find the side-netting as the Chilli Boys survived another scare.

Kazapua then produced an outstanding save five minutes from time to ensure the victory when he tipped Wonderboy Makhubu's shot around the post.
