Chauke wins vacant IBO flyweight title

In an outstanding and controlled performance, South Africa’s Jackson van Tonder Chauke won the vacant IBO flyweight title at the York Hall in London on Saturday night, when he beat Quaise Khademi who was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, but based in England, on points over 12 rounds.

The scores were unanimous with judge Michael Alexander scoring it 116-112 and judges Per Kjerulf Hansen and Jerome Lades both scoring it 117-110. The referee was John Latham.

The vastly more experienced Chauke 24-2; 15 who will be 39 years old in May was in outstanding physical condition and was in control throughout against the lesser experienced Khademi 10-2-2; 4. 

However, the 20-year-old Khademi never gave up and won a few rounds on the judges’ scorecards.

OSCAR COLLAZO RETAINS WBO MINIMUMWEIGHT TITLE

WBO minimumweight champion Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo 9-0; 7 from Puerto Rico retained his title on a third-round stoppage against Reynaris Gutierrez 10-2; 2 of Nicaragua on Saturday night at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. A sharp right hand rocked Guitierrez in the third round and shortly afterwards the referee stopped the fight at 2:37 into the round.

JAIME MUNGUIA WINS IN NINE

W BO No.1 and WBC No.2  rated super middleweight Jaime Munguía 43-0; 34 won on a ninth-round technical knockout over John “The Gorilla” Ryder 32-7; 18 on Saturday night at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Munguia scored a knockdown in round two with a big right hand and again in the fourth round. He finished the fight in the ninth round with another two knockdowns and dropped Ryder twice in round nine when Ryder’s corner threw in the towel. 

On the undercard super middleweight, Darius “DFG” Fulghum 10-0; 9 won on a majority ten-round point decision over Alantez “SlyAza” Fox 28-6-1; 13. Scores were 100-90, 98-92, 95-95.

OSCAR CANDE TRINIDAD WINS WBC CONTINENTAL TITLE

Featherweight Omar Cande Trinidad 15-0-1; 12 won on an eighth-round technical knockout against Jose Perez 11-3-2; 5 on Saturday night at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. Trinidad scored a knockdown in round seven and then put Perez down again in round eight to finish it off, Time was 1:07. The bout was for the WBC Continental Americas title.

LEON BAUER WINS IN THREE

In an all-German super middleweight clash, Leon Bauer 20-0-1; 11 won on a third-round technical knockout over Timo Rost 16-2-3; 6 on Saturday night at Motorworld in Cologne, Germany. Bauer dropped Rost in the third round and after a further exchange, Rost took a knee on his own, suffering from a bad cut on his right eyelid. The bout was then called off.

Heavyweight Jose Larduet 12-0; 10 dominated Yonny Molina 13-7-1; 8 for two rounds and Molina did not come out for the third round.

LEWIS CROCKER WINS ON FIFTH-ROUND KNOCKOUT

Welterweight Lewis “The Croc” Crocker 19-0; 11won on a fifth-round knockout against Jose Felix 40-7-1; 31 on Saturday night at the Ulster Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Felix was deducted a point for a low blow in the third round and Crocker, who missed the weight by three pounds, dropped Felix with a body shot in the fourth round. Crocker sent Felix down again in the fifth to finish it. Time was 1:54.

Cruiserweight Cheavon Clarke 8-0; 6 stopped Tommy McCarthy 20-6; 10 in the fourth round.  Time was 1:28.

Welterweight Paddy Donovan 13-0; 10 won on a seventh-round technical knockout against Williams Andres Herrera 15-3; 6. Donovan dropped Herrera twice in the seventh round before the referee waved the fight off soon after.

JORGE CUELLER STOPS JONATHAN RAMIREZ CASAS

Junior lightweight Jorge ‘Kan’ Mata Cuellar 16-2-2 11 from Guadalajara stopped countryman Jonathan Ramirez Casas 12-5; 8 when he did not come out at the bell for the seventh round at the El Domo del Code Jalisco, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. In round six Cuellar hurt Casas badly with hooks to the body and face before dropping him. Casas survived the round but did not come out for the seventh round.
