Spurs ease relegation concerns as Durban extend lead

Coastal sides Cape Town Spurs and Durban City recorded victories on matchday 15 of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Spurs snapped a 10-match winless run when they secured a 1-0 win over Casric Stars courtesy of Therlo Moosa's goal at home on Friday, but the Urban Warriors remained 14th in the standings - a point above the relegation zone.

Durban City, on the other hand, opened a three-point lead at the of the table after securing a 4-2 victory over Hungry Lions at home on Friday thanks to goals from Bongumusa Nkosi, Samkelo Maseko, Ruzaigh Gamildien and Joslin Kamatuka.

On Saturday, Orbit College climbed up to the second spot after claiming a 1-0 victory over Leruma United at home, while JDR Stars remained third in the standings after drawing 3-3 with Baroka FC in Tshwane.

Venda FC eased their relegation concerns as they moved up to the 15th spot following their 2-0 victory over Black Leopards at home, while Pretoria Callies were held to a 0-0 draw by Upington City at home.

On Sunday, a 1-0 victory over Highbury elevated Kruger United up to the fifth spot, while the University of Pretoria were held to a 1-1 draw by a struggling Milford side in Tshwane.
