Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro feels his side are getting closer to the kind of form that would like to see them play all the time after registering a fifth successive victory on Wednesday with a first ever away triumph over Cape Town City.

The 2-0 win, courtesy of a second half double from Tshegofatso Mabasa, kept Pirates in the hunt for second place in the DStv Premiership as they took their points tally for the season to 46 points.

“Well, the results are telling us that we are close,” said Riveiro about his side’s search for perfection as they also chase a place in the Nedbank Cup final.

They take on Chippa United away at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday in the semifinal.

“Obviously we are winning games, we are scoring goals, we are dominating the games and we are producing good performances. We are in a good space,” the coach added.

“I think probably we are in the best moment of the season in terms of confidence, which is key to winning games.

“I think we had moments in the season where we didn't get results but played better football than right now.

“But now the ball is going to the net more frequently and we all are very pretty.”

Riveiro said it was clear that the team was permanently progressing.

“We are going into the last stages of the season in very good form. And let's not stop right now. We must continue until the end with this level with confidence in the talent that we have in the team,” he added.
