SuperSport United and Royal AM were unable to convert their goal scoring opportunities in their latest 2024/25 Betway Premiership assignment and ultimately shared the spoils in a tense 0-0 draw at the TUT Stadium on Saturday evening.

The game commenced at a timid pace at the TUT Stadium, with neither side creating any notable scoring chances inside the first 10 minutes of the match. Motebang Sera proved to be Royal AM’s attacker-in-chief early on but was swiftly dealt with on the edge of the SSU area.

SuperSport came close to opening the scoring in the 22nd minute of the game, with Siphesihle Ndlovu registering a shot at goal. After infiltrating the SSU half, the SSU midfielder let off a left-footed shot that narrowly missed the goalkeeper’s right-hand post.

The Tshwane giants continued to dominate on the ball, while the likes of Lyle Lakay and Brooklyn Poggenpoel attempted long-range efforts to affect the scoreline. With halftime on the horizon, Royal AM sat back and looked to attack the home side on the break.

With neither side able to break the deadlock, the referee called time on the first-half with the score level at 0-0.

There was little to separate the two sides during the first 10 minutes after the restart, while Sera once again recorded a missed attempt at goal. SuperSport were once again afforded a notable scoring chance following a corner situation in 57th minute of the match when Siviwe Magidigidi’s header went wide from close range.

Royal AM were unable to create any big chances at the 70th minute mark as a result of SuperSport’s dominance on the ball, while Gavin Hunt’s men actively searched for an opener with the direct ball toward goal.

In a rare attacking moment for Royal AM, Ayabulela Maxwele attempted to get his name on the scoresheet with an effort from the right-hand side of the box but ultimately saw his shot sail over the crossbar.

Nevertheless, SuperSport and Royal settled for a point at the end of the 90 minutes with the scoreline set at 0-0 in Pretoria.
