Zesco stumble again as MTN Super League pack close in
Leaders Zesco United were held to a 0-0 draw by Zanaco in the MTN Super League on Sunday, leading to a further erosion of their lead at the top of the table.
Zesco are now only two points ahead of second-placed Power Dynamos at the end of the weekend but have gained a point on defending champions Red Arrows.
It was another blunt display with a single win in their last four games (D2 L1), stalling their momentum.
In the other match on Sunday. Green Buffaloes claimed an excellent 4-1 away win at Mutondo Stars.
Christopher Kumwembe, Eric Chombe, Golden Mashata and Perkins Mwale all netted for Buffaloes, while Titus Chansa scored what proved a consolation for the hosts.
Nkana FC completed one of their best wins in recent seasons when they came from behind to defeat Red Arrows 3-1 in Kitwe on Saturday.
Ackim Mumba put Arrows into the lead after 10 minutes, but Nkana had turned things around by the break - Chitoshi Chinga and Michee Malonga scoring two first-half goals.
They made the points safe with a third 18 minutes from the end via Harrison Chisala.
The back-to-back wins have lifted Nkana away from the relegation zone.
POWER DYNAMOS VICTORIOUS
Two goals in the second half took Power Dynamos to a 2-0 victory over Lamwana Radiants. Owen Tembo and Ishmael Ankabo were on target for them.
Kabwe Warriors returned to winning ways with a thumping 3-0 success over FC Muza.
The game was goalless at the break, but the home side ran away with it in the second period as they scored goals through Timothy Sakala, Gabriel Banda and Mwamba Mutondo.
Amity Shamende got the only goal of the game as Green Eagles edged Mufulira Wanderers 1-0, while Nkwazi FC beat bottom side Indeni by the same scoreline, with Innocent Kashita netting just past the hour-mark.
The other two games on Saturday finished goalless as Atletico Lusaka were held at home by Nchanga Rangers and Forest Rangers earned a point at Napsa Stars.
