Arrows seek to close the gap on leaders ZESCO United
Red Arrows will look to close the gap on leaders ZESCO United when they host Mutondo Stars in the MTN Super League on Friday, boasting the joint best defence in the top division.
Arrows are currently six points behind ZESCO with all teams having played 16 matches as they hit the halfway point of the season.
Mutondo have won just one of their eight away games this campaign (but are the best team at home) and scored only four goals, so Arrows will feel this is a game there for the taking.
ZESCO are also ta home on Saturday as they tackle Mufulira Wanderers, another side who have won once on the road this campaign.
ZESCO have taken 17 points from a possible 24 at home and won their last three against Wanderers, and seven of their last 10 (D1 L2). The visitors have not beaten them at home yet though.
Second-placed Nkwazi go to in-form Green Eagles in what will be a huge test of their championship credentials this season.
Eagles have won four of their last five games (D1) and five of their previous eight (D3) as they continue to impress in recent months. That being said, Nkwazi have taken 10 points from the last 12 available on the road.
FC MUZA in fourth are away at Kabwe Warriors, hoping to break their habit of draws on the road. Five of their eight away games have ended in a stalemate so far this season.
Champions Power Dynamos continue to languish in sixth place, seven points behind leaders ZESCO and need to find some consistency in the campaign. They are at home to unpredictable NAPSA Stars having won on eight of the latter’s last 11 visits (D2 L1).
Nkana will hope to continue their push for safety when they travel to ZANACO. The latter have three wins and three draws in the last six meetings, while Nkana have generally struggled at ZANACO down the years.
Other matches this weekend see Green Buffaloes host Trident, Konkola Blades welcome Prison Leopards and Forest Rangers travel to Kansanshi Dynamos.
