ZESCO slip up in title race with draw at Warriors
Second-placed ZESCO United failed to make up significant ground on MTN Super League leaders Red Arrows after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Kabwe Warriors in their clash on Thursday.
With Arrows having won their fixture against Konkola Blades on Wednesday, ZESCO have now fallen further behind in the title race and trail their rivals by five points with eight rounds remaining in the championship.
There was a shock 4-1 victory for bottom side Trident FC over Green Eagles on Thursday, just a second win of the campaign in 26 games for the strugglers.
A brace from Walaza Tembo, the first a penalty, and further strikes by Peter Musukuma and Fred Mwiche handed Trident the win.
Tapson Kaseba scored the only goal for Eagles, whose hopes of continental football next season look well and truly over.
One side very much in the race for CAF club action is FC MUZA, who recorded a fifth win in succession to move into third in the table, one point above defending champions Power Dynamos.
Solomon Mpasela scored an early goal after six minutes for MUZA, who are eight points behind leaders Arrows.
