In the latest round of Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures, Polokwane City and Casric Stars pulled clear from the rest of the pack following their respective victories this weekend.

Venda Football Academy hosted TTM at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Friday afternoon as the hosts recorded a 2-1 victory in the process.

The defeat left TTM on a four-match losing streak while Venda moved up to 16th spot on 18 points after 16 matches played.

Also, Platinum City Rovers and Hungry Lions fired blanks in a 0-0 draw at Olen Park in the adjacent fixture, concluding Friday’s set of fixtures.

On Saturday, Black Leopards’ woes at the bottom of the table continued following their 2-2 stalemate with the University of Pretoria. While Leopards remained in the relegation spot, AmaTuks kept their place in the top eight.

Elsewhere, JDR Stars extended their unbeaten streak in the league to seven games, after their 1-1 draw with MM Platinum at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium.

JDR Stars finished the game week in third spot on the log, while MM Platinum occupied the relegation playoff spot.

Polokwane City maintained their status as log leaders this weekend, with their 1-0 win against Magesi at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium taking them to 33 points after 16 matches played.

Magesi, on the other hand, suffered their third straight loss in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

On Sunday, Casric Stars matched the pace set by Polokwane City at the summit of the table, as they recorded a crucial 2-1 victory against Uthongathi at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

Meanwhile, Pretoria Callies and Baroka failed to produce a winner in a 1-1 draw at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium this weekend.

Over in the Mother City, Cape Town Spurs climbed into third spot on the MFC table, following their 2-0 victory over All Stars at the Athlone Stadium on Monday.

With PSL promotion being one of the club’s mandates this season, Spurs are now three points off log leaders Polokwane City, while All Stars end the latest match week in 6th place.
