Polokwane City & Casric Stars headline latest MFC gameweek
All eyes will be on Polokwane City and Casric Stars in the latest round of Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures this week, as the race for top spot heats up.
Rise and Shine are one of the most in-form teams in the first division at the moment and currently occupy top spot on the table.
In their latest fixture, Polokwane City will host Casric Stars at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, with the travelling outfit sitting in third place. Casric Stars, who are likewise chasing a promotion finish, trail the table toppers by three points and head into the game on the back of two consecutive stalemates against Venda Football Academy and Magesi FC.
Also in the mix, Cape Town Spurs return to their happy place this week when they host Baroka FC at the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday. The Urban Warriors are on a nine-match winning streak on their own patch, while Baroka lost two away matches on the spin.
The two sides squared off at the Global Park Stadium earlier this month, as the Urban Warriors bagged three vital points in a 3-2 away win. With their mandate being automatic promotion to the PSL, Spurs trail Rise and Shine by two points in second spot.
In other key Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures this week, Black Leopards will hope to turn the corner when they face Magesi at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday. Lidoda Duvha are currently at the bottom of the pile and accumulated just 14 points from 22 games played this season.
Also, Pretoria Callies and TTM will go toe-to-toe at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, with the latter looking to claw their way out of the relegation zone. In 15th spot, TTM are winless in their last 11 league encounters.
