African World Cup Qualifiers

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ African Qualifiers will be concluded this month with the first leg of the last round is scheduled for March 25, while the second leg matches will be held four days later.

Mali will be hoping to win their first World Cup ticket and to achieve this goal, the Malian FA has called for reinforcements on the Eagles' bench, with the arrival of former internationals such as Frédéric Kanouté, Mohamed Lamine Sissoko, Eric Chelle and Seydou Keita to support current coach Mohamed Magassouba.

Giants Cameroon, the African nation holding the record for participation in the World Cup with 7 appearances and Nigeria with their 6 appearances will be out to exert their dominance.

Morocco and Tunisia have participated in the world tournament five times and hope to return to the world stage.

There are three participations each for the Black Stars of Ghana and the Pharaohs of Egypt.

African Champions Senegal are still on cloud nine and a third participation in World Cup after 2002 and 2018 will be the icing on the cake.

After their poor showing at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations Algeria, will look to make amends by securing their ticket to Qatar while DR Congo (then Zaire) got a glimpse of World Cup in 1974 and 48 years later, The Leopards are ready to return.

DID YOU KNOW?

Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz has a fine record in qualification, leading South Africa to the 2002 World Cup, before resigning ahead of the tournament. Then he led Portugal to the 2010 tournament and then qualified Iran to the 2014 and 2018 tournaments, the country’s first successive appearances. Other coaches have managed four qualifications but none have done so with more than one country. Is it all over for Senegal?
