World Sports Betting Western Province won the toss and elected to bat first in their CSA 4-Day Series match against the Dafabet Warriors at WSB Newlands on Thursday.

Western Province comes into this contest on the back of a win over the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in their first match of the season. Salieg Nackerdien’s side will be looking to carry that form into their first home fixture.

Western Province's victory against the Dolphins was built on a strong outing from Kyle Simmonds. The spinner took nine wickets for 135 runs in the match. He bagged six wickets for 60 runs in the first innings. It was his 10th first-class five-wicket haul. He then turned around and took three for 75 in the second innings.

On the batting side, Daniel Smith scored a half-century in the first innings, and Jonathan Bird and George Linde registered half-tons in the second innings as they cruised to a 51-run victory.

Warriors drew one and lost one match. Their stars in both contests were Jordan Hermann and Matthew de Villiers. Hermann scored a half-century and a ton in the first and second matches. De Villiers, on the other hand, registered three half-centuries in four innings.

With the ball, Duanne Olivier and Beyers Swanepoel bagged four-wicket hauls in their draw against the Renault Potchefstroom North West Dragons. When they made the trip to Paarl, Jason Raubenheimer registered his maiden four-wicket haul in their loss to Goldrush Boland at Boland Park. It was his fourth first-class game.
