Sundowns DDC title hopes in shreds as Notoane's team searches for goals

Mamelodi Sundowns' coach David Notoane has expressed dissatisfaction with his teams' offensive display in their last three DStv Diski Challenge matches.
In their most recent match, Sundowns delivered a convincing performance and created many scoring opportunities but could not convert even one chance. That left Notoane not so impressed as they have now gone three consecutive matches without a win. They lost twice (3-2 against Cape Town City, 1-0 to Magesi) and drew once, goalless draw against Richards Bay FC.
Notoane's strategy reflects his commitment to nurturing a formidable offensive unit with a clear focus on attacking prowess and efficiency.
"It is always disappointing when you lose a football match. But more important is the development part of it. It has been the story of our week, from Cape Town City (lost 3-2) now going to goalless draw against Richards Bay, the chances that we created," said Notoane.
"We were not aggressive enough in the final third. But the most important thing is the lessons that these boys take going forward into their careers. Our game against Magesi was an exciting game, it was exactly how we expected it to be, we can't come from the bench score goals for the boys so we have to go back to the training ground and fix this problem of converting our chances."
The past three results saw Sundowns dropping from the top of the log to fifth place as they collected a mere point out of a possible nine.
In 20 outings Sundowns have collected 39 points and are six points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs. On their chances of winning the league, Notoane admitted that the boys are aware that winning is part and parcel of Sundowns culture.
He explained: "We want to also develop a winning mentality a winning culture is very important at Mamelodi Sundowns and the boys are aware of that. However, we should win as a result of applying ourselves properly in terms of their technical development. Today we did not have a technique to score goals. At the end of the day winning is very important because competition is always about that."
Sundowns' next match, will host AmaZulu at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
