Sekhukhune United emerged as 2-0 winners over Golden Arrows in a Betway Premiership match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The win elevated Babina Noko to the second spot in the league standings and they will be looking to make it two wins in a row when they face Royal AM away on 26 October after the upcoming Fifa international break.

Abafana Bes'thende, on the other hand, are placed fifth in the standings after registering a second successive defeat. Arrows will be keen to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Chippa United away on 26 October.

It took just three minutes for Babina Noko to break the deadlock as Keletso Makgalwa's well-taken free-kick was turned home by the towering Trésor Tshibwabwa Yamba Yamba to hand Sekhukhune a 1-0 lead.

The hosts looked dangerous from set-pieces and Tshibwabwa connected with Mcedi Vandala's corner-kick in the 18th minute, but this time the DR Congolese player couldn't keep his header on target. Sekhukhune were leading 1-0 at halftime.

Babina Noko started the second-half brightly and they doubled their lead in the 49th minute when Thabang Monare set up Vandala who netted his maiden top-flight goal to make it 2-0 to Sekhukhune.

Coach Mabhuti Khenyeza decided to introduce Bongani Cele and Sbonelo Cele just after the hour-mark as Abafana Bes'thende looked to pull one back. However, Sekhukhune were able to hold on to their two-goal lead and they emerged as 2-0 winners.
