SuperSport offering a world of Fifa Women’s World Cup action

As the ninth Fifa Women’s World Cup looms, SuperSport is gearing up for the biggest, most ambitious broadcast of a women’s sporting event in its history.

With teams from South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia and Morocco representing the African continent, all eyes will be on Australia and New Zealand where the international football showpiece takes place from July 20 to August 20.

With all broadcasts linked to SuperSport’s “Here for Her” campaign, there will be a World Cup-dedicated channel of the same name, intended to empower, recognise, and celebrate women achievers.

Apart from live broadcasts of all 64 matches, SuperSport’s World Cup package will include 47 studio match presentations, on-the-ground presenters telling the African stories, build-up content, scene-setters, multiple language and channel options, streaming (Showmax Pro), dynamic magazine shows, all-encompassing coverage on social and digital platforms, and many top guests, including former internationals and internationally renowned analysts.

CHANNELS AND PACKAGES – SA

SS Variety 4 (HD) will be a dedicated “Here for Her” channel and will broadcast selected World Cup matches.

All South Africa’s matches from can be found on the Access package on the Variety 4 channel.

Simultaneous World Cup matches can be found on the Football and LaLiga channels (Family).

WORLD CUP PRESENTERS and GUESTS

Thato Moeng will report out of New Zealand and provide scene-setters on the sights and sounds, news insights, and general reporting on the progress of Africa’s teams.

Meanwhile, in-studio presentation will be hosted by the astute pair of Carol Tshabalala and Julia Stuart, both renowned for their ability to set the scene and get to grips with the dynamics of tournament football.

An array of top guests have been lined up to preview and review match performances, bringing their tactical smarts to the world of television.

Star African talent includes Janine van Wyk (Wafcon winner and former SA captain), Mercy Akide (three-time Wafcon winner and Nigeria star), and Melissa Kape Saili (trainer at Zambia FA).

Among other experts are Maude Khumalo (former SA star), Portia Modise (SA record goal-scorer), Melissa Kape Saili (trainer at Zambia FA), and Teko Modise (former SA star).

Kia Ora

So-named after a Maori language greeting, Kia Ora will be a 52-minute show targeted at football fans eager to catch up on highlights, top moments, key fixtures, statistics, and facts.

To be hosted by Lerato Phago and Lwazi Ziqubu, guests will include a panel of former stars, coaches, referees, and assorted experts.

Episodes will play out every Monday and Thursday at 7pm.

#Bonza

So-named after a quintessential Australian word meaning “first rate” or “excellent”, this 52-minute show will broadcast every Sunday.

Hosted by Mpho Maboi and Fiso Mazibuko, it will take an unashamedly lighter look at the quirky side of football, taking in the light-hearted conversations driven by social media and other lifestyle content that helps shape the game.

Guests will include the overseas-based presenter pair of Thato Moeng and Lerato Phago (via Zoom), former star players, influencers, and celebrities.

Beyond Greatness

Beyond Greatness, A daily Fifa magazine show, will supplement the live offering and include highlights, plus an array of content supplied from Fifa that draws from presenters, social media and marketing.

Content will include team and country profiles, archived content, special features on fans, players and countries, highlights, a variety of short-form content, montages, activations and everything else that defines the World Cup experience.
