Stellenbosch FC have bolstered their squad for the new Premier Soccer League season with the signing of goalkeeper Sage Stephens and full-back Zitha Macheke.

Stephens arrives from Cape Town City after he was released by the latter at the end of the last campaign.

The 29-year-old Stephens, who has also turned out for Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu, has 87 appearances in all competitions in the PSL.

He will contest the No 1 jersey with incumbent Lee Langeveldt and youngster Keegan Pool.

Right-back Macheke, 26, arrives from BidVest Wits, where he started 24 of their 30 league games last season before the club was sold and relocated to Limpopo.

He has 133 professional appearances having also turned out for Chippa United and Thanda Royal Zulu since he made his debut in 2015, having been a regular with every club he has represented.

He came through the development ranks at Kaizer Chiefs, but never played for the Soweto giants.
