JDR Stars and Milford FC registered victories on matchday 16 of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after their title rivals Durban City dropped points.

Durban remained at the top of the log standings after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Casric Stars in KwaMahlanga where Lebogang Lesako scored the winning goal on Friday.

However, the lead at the top was reduced to one point by second-placed JDR on Saturday after they secured a 2-1 victory over a relegation-threatened Leruma United side in Pretoria.

In Durban, Milford reduced the gap between them and Durban to three points after claiming a 1-0 victory over a struggling Venda FC side courtesy of Siphosethu Ndlabi's goal on Sunday.

Cape Town Spurs eased their relegation concerns after collecting a point at Upington City as the two teams drew 2-2 on Sunday with the hosts recording a third successive draw.

In Thohoyandou, Black Leopards snapped a six-match winless run in the league when they claimed a 1-0 victory over Orbit College thanks to Donald Makgetlwa's first-half goal.
