Orlando Pirates have confirmed they have reached an agreement for the transfer of Malawi international striker Gabadinho Mhango from BidVest Wits.

The player must still undergo a medical, but is expected to link up with his new teammates on Thursday.

“Orlando Pirates would like to thank Wits’ management for the professional manner that these negotiations were conducted,” a statement from the club said.

Mhango, 26, is coming off an excellent Cosafa Cup in Durban, where he netted three goals and gave a number of lively performances.

He had extended his contract with Wits for another year, but Pirates have now swooped in to sign him from The Clever Boys.

Blessed with great pace, Mhango can be frustrating in front of goal, but has managed 35 goals in 87 starts in the Premier Soccer League since joining Bloemfontein Celtic for the 2013/14 season.

He spent three years with Siwelele before a year at Lamontville Golden Arrows, and then a move to Wits for the 2016/17 season, where he helped them to the Absa Premiership title.
