Bangladesh win toss and bat in first test against South Africa
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat in the first test against South Africa at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
Bangladesh have a new coach, West Indian Phil Simmons, and are without their star allrounder, Shakib Al Hasan, who has withdrawn from the squad due to concerns over his safety. He had hoped this would have been his farewell test before retirement.
South Africa are without injured skipper Temba Bavuma with the side being led by Aiden Markram.
This is the first match in a two-test series.
