There is plenty of fight action for fans within the next week with three South African title fights coming up, firstly at the Galleria in Sandton with two title fights on the bill, and then on Sunday in Auckland Park Asanda Ginqgi defends his South African featherweight title.

On Thursday night Jackson 'M3' Chauke from Gauteng defends his South African flyweight title against the No 1 contender Sinethemba Kotana from the Eastern Cape at the Galleria.

Chauke (21-1-2; 15) made his pro debut in October 2008 and has also captured the WBF International, WBC International and African Boxing Union flyweight titles.

The only loss on his record came against Lwandile Sityatha in April 2013 for the South Africa flyweight title, losing points by wide margins.

He won the South African flyweight title in April 2019 with a ninth-round stoppage win over Thabang Ramagole and has made successful defences against Sihle Jelwana (ko 1), Luyanda Ntwanambi (pts 12) and Phumelele Cafu (D 12).

In his most recent fight in July this year the 37-year-old Chauke won the vacant African Boxing Union flyweight title on a third-round technical knockout over Mustafa Mkupasi.

The challenger Kotana (8-2-2; 5) has been fighting as a pro since August 2015 with his two losses coming against Yanga Sigqibo (pts 6) and Fikile Mlongeni (tko 4).

He is coming off three good wins and could extend the ageing champion.

NYANGANI DEFENDS AGAINST NKWENTENI

On the same card Bangile Nyangani (12-1-1; 6), who holds the WBA Pan African minimumweight title, makes the second defence of his South African mini flyweight title when he faces the number four challenger Gaveni Nkwenteni (6-3-1; 5).

The champion goes into the fight as the betting favourite.

UNDERCARD

Light Heavyweight (8 Rounds): Rowan Campbell (12-1-0) v Luvuyo Sizani (6-0-0)
Super Middleweight (8 Rounds): Patrick Mukala (12-2-1) v Simion Tchetha (12-5-1)
Junior Middleweight (6 Rounds): Darrin Rossouw (5-0-0) v Sheldon Schultz (4-3-0)

All the records are taken from Boxrec.

GINQGI DEFENDS SA TITLE AGAINST MAGAGANE

Asanda Gingqi (9-0; 6) from Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape makes the third defence of his South African featherweight title when he meets the number one challenger Jeff Magagane (15-5; 4) at the SABC’s headquarters in Auckland Park on Sunday, 25 September.

The odds must favour the champion even though the 31-year-old Magagane of Johannesburg is the more experienced fighter, but he lacks power with only four inside-the-distance wins on his record.
