The game, which was originally set to kick off at 7:30pm CAT, was delayed by 30 minutes due to ongoing service delivery protests in Soweto and surrounding areas.

A draw leaves Pirates in seventh while a point is enough to move Bakgaga out of the relegation zone and up to 14th spot on the league standings.

The Buccaneers started the game well and registered the first shot in anger in the sixth minute when the ball fell favourably for Fortune Makaringe on the edge of the area. The midfielder struck the ball sweetly but Oscarine Masuluke was up to the task.

Deon Hotto was the star of the show in Pirates' thumping win over Stellenbosch FC last weekend and he should've opened the scoring the in 17th minute. The Namibian beat the offside trap, beat Masuluke but shot wide with the goal at his mercy.

Ben Motshwari tested Masuluke once more in the 26th minute with a thunderbolt shot as the hosts continued to turn the screw.

Kwame Peprah then headed over from close range on the cusp of halftime in what turned out to be a largely frustrating 45 minutes for the home side.

Baroka improved after the interval and hit the post from a free-kick in the 51st minute. The set-piece attempt from way out troubled Siyabonga Mpontshane who did well to palm the ball onto the crossbar and out of danger.

Neither team were able to conjure any noteworthy chances after that as Baroka held on for a valuable point.
