Sidama Coffee finally got into the groove with a 3-1 BetKing Ethiopia Premier League win over Shashemene City on Thursday, while Ethiopia Nigd beat Dire Dawa City 3-2.
It was a great piece of entertainment for fans at the Adama Science and Technology University Stadium.
Sidama won an early penalty in the 25th minute, which was duly dispatched by Desta Yohannes to give his team a lead that they took into the half-time break.
Sidama doubled their tally late in the second half when Degife Alemu scored in the 83rd minute.
Abebayehu Yohannes made it 3-0 for Sidama two minutes later, but Eyob Gebremariam pulled one back for Shashemene City in the 87th minute
However, it was too little too late as the game finished 3-1 in favour of Sidama Coffee.
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, also known as Ethiopia Nigd Bank, signed many top stars following their promotion to the league and one of those brought in was St George striker, Addis Gidey.
Gidey gave them a 20th-minute lead while Kitita Jima added a second goal on 28 minutes.
Dire Dawa City though got on the score sheet five minutes later to trail the Bankers 1-2 at halftime.
Ethiopia Nigd went further ahead in the second half when Basiru Umar scored their third goal.
Carlos Damtew gave Dire Dawa hopes of salvaging a point when he scored in the 94th minute, but it was to no avail as Commercial Bank of Ethiopia took the spoils.
