University of Pretoria allow Baroka and JDR Stars back in

The battle for promotion remains tightly contested after University of Pretoria dropped points on Sunday to open the door for Baroka and JDR Stars.

Motsepe Foundation Championship winners Magesi went eight points clear at the summit with a 3-1 win over Milford at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

University of Pretoria's promotion challenge suffered another blow after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

AmaTuks are just two points clear of Bakgaga and the Hammer Boys in second place following a fifth game without a win.

Baroka stayed third on goal difference after they ran out 2-0 victors over Marumo Gallants at the Global Stadium, with JDR Stars keeping pace courtesy of a 1-0 triumph against Orbit College at the Giant Stadium.

Maritzburg United kept their faint promotion hopes alive as they beat Hungry Lions 2-0 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

The Team of Choice trail Bakgaga and the Hammer Boys by three points in fifth position after going unbeaten in their last three matches.

Platinum City Rovers all but confirmed their relegation after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Rovers will finish below Gallants even if they pick up maximum points from their final two games due to an inferior goal difference, with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa one point adrift of safety in 15th spot.

Venda Football Academy gave their survival bid a massive shot in the arm with a 3-0 victory over Pretoria Callies at the TUT Stadium.

VFA picked up their first win in six matches as they pulled one point clear of Gallants in 14th place, level on 31 points with NB La Masia (13th) and Milford (12th).
