At the beginning of the season, Golden Arrows striker Nkosikhona Dube put a challenge on his shoulders setting himself a target of 25 games of the Multichoice Diski Challenge.

The 19-year-old knew that it was not gonna be an easy task, but with determination and focus, he can achieve and surpass that feat.

And he didn't disappoint. After 28 matches in the Diski Challenge season, the KwaZulu-Natal based player managed to find the back of the net 22 times. The dream of playing for the first time was one of many factors that motivated Dube.

The Arrows first team is made up of almost 85 percent Multichoice Diski Challenge players.

”I knew it is possible,” proud Dube said.

The Multichoice Diski Challenge will not take place this weekend as all football events were postponed in the country due to the pandemic coronavirus.

At the rate things are going, the league may be discontinued. Football had been halted globally.

Worldwide leagues such as the English Premier League, La Liga, Seria A, the Bundesliga and Ligue one have all been postponed until further notices due to the virus.

Worldwide the virus has affected more than 436 000 people and it has killed more than 19 000 people.

Here in South Africa, more than 700 cases have been reported and fortunately, no life has been claimed by this virus as yet.

Dube said: ”It would have been nice to finish the season but our health comes first. Whether the season continues anytime soon or not I am still proud of my work.

”I had the courage to set this tally and I was going to achieve it, I'm just three goals from reaching 25 and there was no way that I won't score in our two remaining games.”

Dube revealed that players such as Siboniso Conco, Nduduzo Sibiya, Nkosinathi Sibisi and Thabani Zuke are some of the many Arrows players who played in MDC and are now in the first team. Those players gave Dube the belief and courage.

He stated: ”They showed us that it is possible having played in the same team, coached by the same coach and technical team. So I also had that belief that I can do it.”
