Zesco United will hope to reignite their title charge in the MTN Super League when they go to in-form Green Buffaloes on Sunday in a battle between the sides placed first and third on the table.

Zesco were the early pacesetters but with just a single win in four (D2 L1), having seen the chasing pack close in fast.

One of those is Buffaloes, who have seen back-to-back wins bring them within three points of Zesco, who they will overtake with a home win this weekend,

Zesco won both league encounters last season, and Buffaloes the season before that, but generally, it is the visitors who have had the better of the meetings down the years.

Second-placed Power Dynamos are the form side in the top flight, having won their last four games in a row to move within two points of the leaders. They host Mutondo Stars in their next encounter on Saturday.

Stars had a four-game winning run of their own earlier in the campaign but are now winless in two (D1 L1) and lost both games to Dynamos in the previous campaign.

RED ARROWS AIM FOR VICTORY

Defending champions Red Arrows were also on the charge before last weekend’s surprise 3-1 loss at Nkana FC.

They will seek to get back to winning ways as they host Green Eagles, who have won three of their last four games and will be a tough nut to crack.

Eagles have not had much luck on the road with two wins in eight (D1 L5), while Arrows have won 12 of their last 14 at home (D2) in the league and have not even conceded a goal in any of their previous 13 games on their own patch, a remarkable run.

The last goal they conceded was against Mutondo Stars in December 2023.

Back-to-back wins have seen Nkana FC rise into mid-table and they will look to make it three in a row when they go to bottom side Indeni, who have taken just two points from a possible 30 so far this campaign.

Nkana are not the best of travelers but will expect nothing less than a win.

In other matches this weekend, FC Muza host Lumwana Radiants, Zanaco welcome Napsa Stars, Nkwazi go to Forest Rangers, Kabwe Warriors host Atletico Lusaka and Nchanga Rangers travel to Mufulira Wanderers.
