Relegation in focus on final day of MTN Super Leagues season
Almost all the questions for the 2023-24 season have been settled heading into the final round of MTN Super League fixtures on Saturday.
Red Arrows have been crowned champions, ZESCO United will finish second and play in the CAF Confederation Cup next term, while three of the four relegated sides have been confirmed.
Trident FC, Prison Leopards and Kansanshi Dynamos know they will be competing in the second-tier next season, while Konkola Blades’ topflight status is hanging by a thread.
They have 36 points (-9 goal-difference), three behind Forest Rangers (-5) and NAPSA Stars (-4), so need to win away at Leopards and hope one of the two above them slip up, and at the same time they can overhaul them on goal-difference.
Rangers host Kansanshi Dynamos and NAPSA Stars welcome third-placed Power Dynamos, who are the deposed defending champions. So there is hope, however slim their chances.
If Blades were to win by one goal, they would need Rangers to lose by four and Stars by five.
Champions Arrows go to Mutondo Stars hoping to finish in style, while ZESCO are away at Mufulira Wanderers.
Trident FC will hope to end their disappointing campaign on a high as they welcome mid-table Green Buffaloes, and FZ MUZA play host to Kabwe Warriors in a potential battle for fourth place.
Nkana FC end a difficult season with a home clash against ZANACO and Green Eagles will go to Nkwazi for their final fixture.
