The Momentum Multiply Titans and Knights were both level pegging at lunch on day one of their CSA 4-Day Series clash, with the hosts reaching the break on 92/3 having won the toss and chosen to bat at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Tuesday.

The Titans will not be happy to have lost three wickets, but they weren’t in a terrible position and if Keegan Petersen (40no) can kick on in the early afternoon session with Jhedli van Briesies (8no) they can still set themselves up for a solid total.

The Knights will arguably be the happier of the two after being forced to bowl after losing the toss, as regular wickets throughout the morning session kept the hosts in check.

The Titans got their innings off to a confident start in the first couple of overs, thanks to a bit of loose bowling, but were stopped in their tracks when Joshua van Heerden (9) was trapped LBW by Tiaan van Vuuren in the fifth over, leaving them on 27/1.

Captain Neil Brand (18) and Petersen looked to build a good partnership as they shared 27 for the second wicket, but having taken their side past 50, Brand was then pinned LBW by Dian Forrester, with the score 54/2.

Dewald Brevis (5), who struck a century in the previous match, didn’t last long until he was caught by Aaron Phangiso off the bowling of Malusi Siboto, as they slipped to 66/3.

Petersen and Van Briesies then made sure their wouldn’t be any further trouble as they eased their side to lunch, and will hope to pick up where they left off in the afternoon session.
